Job summary

Base-2 Solutions is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to support a long-term DIA-NDOC DOMEX Technology Platform.

The role focuses on developing and maintaining scalable Python microservices that interface with Apache Kafka and Elasticsearch, deploying and monitoring services in Kubernetes environments, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to design reliable, observable, secure, and mission-focused systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 12+ years of relevant experience.
• Strong Python proficiency with FastAPI/Flask.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka, and Elasticsearch.
• Linux scripting and RESTful API design knowledge.
• Excellent communication, Agile experience, and team collaboration.
• Security-conscious development and observability fundamentals.
• Active Top Secret/SCI clearance is required.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain Python microservices.
• Implement Kafka consumers and producers for messaging.
• Integrate Elasticsearch for indexing and querying.
• Write unit/integration tests and ensure code quality.
• Build CI/CD pipelines and deploy in Kubernetes clusters.
• Participate in design reviews and architecture planning.
• Monitor production issues with observability tools.
• Document technical details and share knowledge across teams.
• Apply engineering practices to development, integration, and production.
• Collaborate across teams to deliver high-quality services.
