Job summary

Amazon seeks a Principal, Public Policy to develop and execute state and local public policy in Massachusetts and the Northeastern states. You will engage with policymakers, work with outside consultants, and build relationships with trade associations.

Travel is required. Based in Boston, you will monitor policy developments, align advocacy with Amazon priorities, and represent the company at policymakers’ conferences and industry events, reporting to the Vice President, State and Local Public

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or above in a relevant discipline (e.g. Law, Political Science, Public Policy, Public Affairs, Economic Development)
• At least 12 years of relevant public policy experience and a keen working understanding of the US state and local policymaking process and government relations.
• J.D., or Master's degree (preferred)
• Experience in written and oral communication with all levels in the organization (technical, business, executive).
• Strong ethics, integrity, and professional reputation in the industry.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with policy, communications, legal, and business teams to align priorities with public policy goals.
• Assess and anticipate public policy matters and develop policy positions and strategies.
• Oversee and execute external advocacy efforts and key initiatives.
• Build and manage relationships with state and local policymakers and trade associations.
• Travel to participate in policymaker conferences and industry events.
