Title: Principal Project Manager (Subcontract at an NRI)

Job Purpose/Summary

The Principal Project Manager will manage large-scale, highly complex, highly visible, and/or business critical projects from concept to completion, such as ERP/APS implementation or conversion projects. Responsibilities include coordinating and completing projects on time, within budget, and within scope. The project manager will work closely with stakeholders, developers, and consultants to ensure successful delivery. The ideal candidate is highly organized, responsible, innovative, and a team player.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage all project management processes from concept through completion for large-scale, complex projects.
  • Balance conflicting priorities effectively.
  • Lead meetings with stakeholders, resources, senior managers, and executives.
  • Define project scope, goals, and deliverables.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans and schedules, adjusting as needed.
  • Identify project risks and develop strategies to address them.
  • Manage project evaluation and dissemination activities.
  • Establish resource requirements and coordinate project resources, including internal teams and third-party vendors.
  • Lead cross-functional teams through complex initiatives.
  • Communicate project goals, roles, responsibilities, and processes clearly to team members.
  • Work creatively and analytically to solve problems, demonstrating teamwork and innovation.
  • Ensure effective hand-offs between team members.
  • Monitor and track project progress, providing regular updates to stakeholders and management.
  • Identify and resolve roadblocks, escalating issues as necessary.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with project management practices.
  • Contribute to process improvements by establishing best practices, templates, and tools.
  • Conduct post-project evaluations to identify lessons learned and areas for improvement.
Reports/Contacts/Relationships

Supervises: No direct reports.

Supports the Project Management Office Director in developing project managers through coaching and mentoring. Collaborates with cross-functional teams and project stakeholders at various levels.

Experience & Qualifications
  • 15+ years of work experience, with at least 6+ years in project management.
  • Experience managing ERP/APS implementation or conversion projects with systems like SAP, Oracle, Infor, CresentOne, or Microsoft Dynamics.
  • ITIL experience is a plus.

Utilizes both Agile and Waterfall methodologies. Demonstrates strong leadership, change management, and vendor management skills. Proactive in risk and issue management to ensure project outcomes are achieved on time, within scope, and within budget.

Education/Certifications

PMI PMP certification or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree in IT, Project Management, Engineering, Business, or related field required. An advanced degree is a plus.

Work Schedule

Core hours are Monday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with flexibility as needed. Occasional travel to client locations may be required.
