Job Summary

We seek a Principal Product Designer to lead and shape our design vision. You will manage a distributed team of designers, define design direction, drive innovation, and collaborate across teams to create user-centered designs aligned with business goals. Your role encompasses the entire design lifecycle, mentoring team members, and fostering a culture of creativity and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

1. Lead and manage a global team of product/UI/UX designers, ensuring consistent practices.
2. Develop and drive the design vision, collaborating with product management and engineering.
3. Oversee the design process from ideation to implementation, ensuring quality and user focus.
4. Create and maintain design systems for a cohesive user experience.
5. Mentor designers and promote a collaborative environment.
6. Establish best practices and advocate for user experience throughout product development.
7. Lead creation of user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and visual designs.
8. Manage multiple projects, ensuring timely and quality delivery.
9. Coordinate with other departments for cross-functional alignment.
10. Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies.

Requirements

Necessary Qualifications

• Located within the Chicago metropolitan area, or willing to relocate.
• Bachelor’s degree in Design, HCI, or related field.
• 7+ years in product design, with 3+ years managing or leading teams.
• Strong portfolio demonstrating strategic thinking and results.
• Experience leading design teams in a global environment.
• Expertise in Figma and design systems for Desktop & Mobile.
• Deep understanding of user-centered design, research, and testing.
• Excellent communication skills for stakeholder presentations.
• Ability to balance creativity with business and technical constraints.
• Experience with complex enterprise applications or SaaS platforms.
• Strong problem-solving and leadership skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Design, HCI, or related field.
• Proficiency in HTML/CSS and understanding of frontend development.
• Experience in Agile environments.
• Familiarity with enterprise SaaS, data analytics, and AI products.
