Job summary

Nyla Technology Solutions seeks a Principal Power BI Software Engineer to lead architecture, development, and maintenance of specialized tracking applications. You will write clean code using Power Query M, DAX, Java, and Python, and architect scalable cloud databases with PostgreSQL while delivering robust RESTful APIs across OpenShift environments.

Active TS/SCI with MD poly is required and on-site work is in Annapolis Junction, MD.

Qualifications

• Minimum of twenty years of experience as a Software Engineer on programs of similar scope, type, and complexity.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline from an accredited college or university.
• Four years of additional software engineering experience may substitute for a bachelor’s degree (totaling 24 years of experience).

Overview

ACTIVE SECURITY CLEARANCE AT THE TS/SCI POLYGRAPH LEVEL IS REQUIRED

If you love transforming massive cyber data tracks into high-performance visualization systems and building custom analytics pipelines, you’re in the right place. We are looking for a Principal Power BI Software Engineer who shares our drive to push boundaries and build applications that make a real difference.

In this role, you will lead the architecture, development, and maintenance of specialized tracking applications, writing clean, efficient code using Power Query M, DAX, Java, and Python to develop critical fingerprinting capabilities that identify cyber threat actors through behavioral signatures. You will architect scalable cloud databases, optimize PostgreSQL/MariaDB structures, and fulfill custom ingest requests through robust RESTful APIs and GitLab CI/CD pipelines across OpenShift environments.

Compensation & Benefits

The annual base salary range for this role is $216,000 - $256,000 (USD), which does not include discretionary bonus compensation or our comprehensive benefits package. Actual compensation offered may vary based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level.

Required Skills

• Clearance: Active Fully-Cleared with Poly (TS/SCI with MD Polygraph).
• Power BI Engineering: Expert proficiency in advanced data visualizations in Power BI using Power Query M code and DAX.
• Database Design: Deep background in database design, schema layout, and SQL query optimization using PostgreSQL.
• API Development: Experience building and maintaining robust RESTful APIs for secure data exchange.
• Modern Environments: Experience with microservices frameworks and containerized environments.
• Scripting Infrastructure: Proficient in Python to manipulate data and automate system ingest.

Education & Experience

• Experience: Minimum of twenty (20) years of experience as a Software Engineer on programs of similar scope, type, and complexity.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline from an accredited college or university.
• Substitution: Four (4) years of additional software engineering experience may substitute for a bachelor’s degree (totaling 24 years of experience).

Desired Skills

• Strong knowledge of Power BI Desktop features and Power BI Report Server Administration.
• Java development experience (Java 17 / Spring Framework 6).
• Operational stability experience in a Windows environment.
• Experience collaborating with engineering partners and customers to debug and resolve complex data visualization issues.
