Job summary

Stitch Fix, a leading fashion-tech company in the United States, is seeking a Principal Platform Engineer to drive platform initiatives, shaping core architecture and AI‑driven workflows across engineering tooling.

You will lead end-to-end delivery, build scalable shared capabilities, mentor engineers, and embrace evolving AI and cloud technologies to boost productivity and reliability while reducing operational friction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS, Software Eng, or equivalent.
• 5+ years designing, building, and operating complex production systems in platform, infrastructure, backend, or developer tooling.
• Deep experience with distributed architectures, microservices, APIs, and cloud infrastructure; proficiency in Ruby/Rails, Python, or Rust.
• Hands-on experience using AI-assisted engineering workflows (AI agents, LLM integrations, Copilot).

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end delivery of platform initiatives from discovery through rollout and operations.
• Design and build scalable, observable platform capabilities, APIs, gateways, and backend services for developer experience and performance.
• Prototype emerging technologies, including AI agents and automation, into safe reusable tools.
• Lead design reviews and mentor engineers through code reviews and feedback.
• Deliver self-service tooling and automation to reduce manual work across production systems.
