Title and Summary

Principal, Platform Engineer / Principal Cloud Platform Architect/Engineer

Responsible for defining, implementing, and maintaining several Mastercard Cloud initiatives focusing on Merger & Acquisition activities. Initiatives include defining Strategy, Principles, Patterns, Standards, Designs, and Integration approaches to enable current and future Entities to join Mastercard.

Special Note: Travel to Mastercard Office and/or M&A Entity location is expected, potentially international, as Mastercard is a global company.

Responsibilities
  1. Work across multiple organizations within Mastercard and the M&A entity to influence complex decisions and designs, driving outcome-based activities, and building trust through leadership and delivery.
  2. Communicate organizational vision and incorporate industry standards and best practices into strategic changes. Consult with teams to identify synergies, risks, dependencies, and re-use opportunities.
  3. Design architecture from proof of concept to operational application, collaborating with peers, engineers, and users to ensure requirements are met.
  4. Develop recommendations to optimize existing cloud platform architecture, fostering innovation and enhancing customer experience.
  5. Manage architecture issues, exceptions, and corrective actions to ensure best practices, explaining trade-offs when necessary.
  6. Support process improvements, automation, and reduction in deployment time.
  7. Provide guidance and remediation for architectural and operational issues impacting cloud infrastructure, services, and performance globally. Evaluate new technologies for deployment.
  8. Contribute to technology guild initiatives by mentoring, training, and participating in community activities.
  9. Create and contribute to reusable Cloud-based Patterns and Standards.
  10. Mentor team members to develop technical skills and capabilities.
Experiences
  • Must have AWS experience; GCP/Azure experience is a plus.
  • Extensive experience leading domestic and/or global technology teams, evaluating and implementing new technologies.
  • Experience ensuring security and service standards for performance and user experience.
  • Proven ability to lead large cross-functional initiatives and resolve architectural challenges.
  • Collaborate with technical leaders to evaluate solutions and recommend future technology directions.
  • Active participation in global technical communities and driving innovation.
  • Skills in evaluating practices, metrics, and roles to optimize SDLC and automate processes.
  • Ability to perform architecture, cost, and risk analysis for cloud solutions.
  • Experience in trade-off discussions to balance development capacity with various value drivers.
