WEX, Inc. is seeking a Principal Software Engineer for Semantic Data Services to help shape the next generation of its Data-as-a-Service platform and semantic foundation across enterprise data with business meaning.

You will lead as a senior technical developer, collaborating with product, AI, analytics, risk, finance, and business teams to solve complex data and distributed systems challenges in an AI-native world.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in software engineering, data engineering or distributed systems at senior levels.
• Strong understanding of modern data architectures and data platforms.
• Experience translating complex business concepts into scalable technical abstractions.

Responsibilities

• Define and influence architecture for the Semantic Data Lake and Data as a Service.
• Design semantic business objects connecting data, context and governance.
• Mentor engineers and lead across teams while remaining hands‑on.
