Job summary

Gulf Companies is seeking a Principal Designer – Piping to join our Houston team. You will perform complex piping designs, including P&IDs, piping plans and isometrics, and oversee BOMs using CAD tools in a leadership capacity.

Ideal candidates bring 10+ years in piping design, strong knowledge of codes/standards, and experience mentoring CAD staff. This is an on-site role based in Houston with growth opportunities in a global energy-focused environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years CAD experience and 10+ years design experience in piping projects.
• Experience with P&ID, piping plans/sections, and BOMs.
• Working knowledge of applicable codes and industry standards.
• Leadership or mentoring experience preferred.

The Principal Designer- Piping is responsible for performing detailed design activities in the Piping discipline.

Essential Functions

• Perform complex designs and layouts of Piping & Instrument Diagrams, Piping Plans, Sections & Isometrics and Piping Bill of Materials utilizing CAD hardware and software.


• Review vendor drawings and information.


• Train and direct designers and other CAD personnel.


• Ability to function in lead role on projects.

Requirements

Qualifications

• 5 years of CAD experience


• 10 or more years of design experience in a drafting environment developing Piping & Instrument Designs (P&IDs), piping plans and sections and piping bills of materials.


• Working knowledge of applicable codes and industry standards


• Previous project leadership Preferred


• Experience in piping projects for pipeline companies’ and/or upstream companies’ compressor stations, pump stations and facilities Preferred


• Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem-solving skills


• CadWorx required


• Microsoft Excel

• Associate's degree or certification from technical trade preferred
