Job summary

Valar Atomics is seeking a hands-on OT Engineering professional to join our Torrance, CA-based team. You will lead design reviews, develop verification procedures, and drive integration across power, compute, networking, and cybersecurity to keep our DOE-authorized reactor safe and productive.

You will own architectures, write standards, and ensure robust recovery for complex systems while collaborating with engineers, operators, and product teams in a high-stakes startup environment.

Qualifications

• Broad practical capability across power and rack infrastructure, compute, storage, and virtualization.
• Strong networking, cybersecurity, and data handling fundamentals.
• Authorship and validation of designs, standards, and acceptance criteria.
• Technical leadership of complex integration, commissioning, or recovery work.
• Broad departmental coverage preferred over deep specialists.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical investigations of failures and complex integration problems across disciplines.
• Step into implementation, commissioning, troubleshooting, or recovery work as needed.
• Test explanations against incomplete evidence and verify recovery with supported causes.
• Develop and review architectures, designs, standards, and acceptance methods.
• Resolve gaps between disciplines and involve specialists when needed.
• Turn lessons from failures into improved designs and procedures.
• Travel to Orangeville, UT facility ~15% of the time.
