Job summary

SAP SE seeks an experienced principal data and applied scientist to architect semantic ontologies and AI grounding across SAP and external data sources. The role focuses on building reliable context engines for AI agents, with expertise in ontologies, graph data, and enterprise knowledge representation.

You will work with Databricks, SAP Datasphere, SAP HANA Cloud, and cloud providers to deploy scalable AI solutions, collaborating across product, engineering, business, and customer teams to turn

Qualifications

• 8+ years in knowledge engineering, semantic data systems, AI, or data science.
• Master's or PhD in CS, Applied Math, Stats, or related field.
• Designing ontology and semantic models; graph query languages.
• Experience with GenAI, RAG, embeddings, vector databases, semantic retrieval.
• Strong Python and SQL with ML libraries; production ML deployment experience.
• Experience with Databricks and cloud environments (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain enterprise ontologies and semantic models.
• Build AI capabilities including RAG, embeddings, and knowledge grounding.
• Ground AI solutions across SAP data models and external systems.
• Design production AI workflows and scalable pipelines.
• Collaborate with product, engineering and customer teams from concept to deployment.
