Job summary

Canva's Mobile Platform team is hiring a Principal-level engineer to set technical direction for a hybrid mobile platform across React Native, iOS and Android, while evolving a mature architecture to support hundreds of millions of users.

You'll lead migrations, ship production code, and partner with multiple product teams to scale adoption, balancing shared abstractions with platform-native boundaries to deliver native-feeling experiences at scale.

Qualifications

• Experience leading cross-platform architecture at scale, with production-grade React Native/React
• Led migrations of mature mobile products onto new architectures while live and growing
• Set technical direction across multiple teams and influenced a large engineering organisation

Responsibilities

• Set the technical direction for Canva’s hybrid mobile platform across React Native, iOS and Android
• Turn architecture into shipped code with foundations for performance and observability
• Have a React Native surface live in production within six months
• Lead Staff and Senior engineers through the migration and provide architectural guidance
• Scale adoption across Canva by partnering with major product teams and establishing reusable patterns
