Job summary

Fieldpiece Instruments seeks a Principal Mobile Architect to shape the native iOS and Android experience and build our first in-house mobile team. You will own the architecture, drive technical strategy, and work hands-on across Bluetooth/BLE devices, cloud services, APIs, and data platforms.

This role offers hybrid work from Orange, CA or Park City, UT with travel up to 10%. You will collaborate with product, UX, embedded, cloud, and data teams to deliver connected-product experiences and scale

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software development experience, 2+ years as a technical leader.
• Strong experience with Swift/Objective-C and Kotlin/Java.
• Experience with AWS, cloud architecture, SaaS/DaaS, and data platforms.
• Expertise with Bluetooth/BLE, IoT, connected devices, sensors, or hardware products.
• Experience integrating mobile apps with APIs, cloud services, backend platforms, and distributed systems.
• Strong knowledge of mobile architecture, security, performance, data synchronization, testing, CI/CD, automated testing, observability, and release management.

Responsibilities

• Own the architecture and technical direction for native iOS and Android apps.
• Establish and build in-house mobile engineering capabilities.
• Architect and develop solutions connecting mobile apps with Bluetooth/BLE devices, cloud services, APIs, and data platforms while providing hands-on development and solving complex technical problems.
• Establish mobile architecture standards, coding practices, development frameworks, technical guardrails, and lead design and code reviews.
• Make key technical decisions balancing scalability, performance, security, maintainability, and speed.
• Partner with Product, UX, embedded, cloud, and data teams to deliver integrated connected-product experiences.
• Apply AI-assisted development tools and practices to improve development, testing, debugging, and code quality.
