Job summary

Bumble is seeking a Principal Machine Learning Engineer, Matching & Recommendations, in Austin, TX. You will define the ML strategy powering Bumble’s matching, ranking, and personalization, while remaining hands-on across retrieval, experimentation, and two-sided marketplace optimization.

You will design and deploy scalable ML pipelines, lead cross-functional collaborations, and mentor senior contributors to elevate the ML org. We value responsible AI, fairness, and impactful member outcomes.

Qualifications

• 10–15 years of hands-on ML experience in production.
• Strong Python and major ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow).
• Proven ability to lead technical strategy and mentor seniors.

Responsibilities

• Define and lead ML strategy for recommendations and ranking.
• Design and deploy production-grade ML models.
• Build AI agents with LLMs and MCP integrations.
• Architect end-to-end ML pipelines with Spark/Airflow.
• Drive experiments, AB testing, and offline evaluation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and senior leaders.
• Mentor senior ICs and promote excellence.
• Champion responsible AI, fairness, and safety.
