Job summary

Typeface is hiring a Principal ML Engineer to shape the company-wide ML strategy and technical direction for generative AI. You will design and oversee large-scale ML platforms spanning training, evaluation, inference, and safety, powering agents and multimodal content across products.

The role requires leadership, deep ML expertise, and the ability to influence executives and engineers alike. You will mentor senior engineers, drive cross-team initiatives, and craft architectures that scale

Qualifications

• 15+ years building and scaling ML systems
• Proven track record driving multi-team or company-level technical strategy
• Experience leading large, ambiguous, high-impact initiatives
• Deep ML systems and infrastructure expertise (training, evaluation, inference)
• Strong background in Generative AI / multimodal systems
• Influence senior leadership and align stakeholders
• Mentor senior engineers and elevate engineering excellence
• Proficiency in Python and systems-level programming (C/C++)

Responsibilities

• Define and drive long-term technical vision for generative AI across Typeface’s product ecosystem
• Lead architecture and design of scalable ML platforms (training, evaluation, inference, safety) used across teams
• Drive company-level ML strategy aligning technical investments with product priorities
• Influence leadership and partner with product and design on high-impact initiatives
• Mentor engineers and raise the technical bar across the ML organization
• Architect and lead development of large-scale generative AI systems for agentic orchestration and multimodal content generation
• Define and evolve shared ML infrastructure for training, fine-tuning, evaluation, and serving
• Drive cross-team initiatives spanning multiple ML systems and product areas
• Establish best practices for ML system evaluation, safety, reliability, and performance at scale
• Identify 0→1 opportunities in generative AI with business impact
