Zillow is seeking a Principal Machine Learning Engineer on the Agentic Artificial Intelligence team. The role centers on building scalable agentic experiences and advancing multimodal AI that assists millions of users in real estate tasks.

As a technical leader, you will drive collaboration across teams, design robust evaluation and safety guardrails, and translate complex AI architectures into strategic insights for executives. This role is remote within the U.S. and offers equity potential.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or above in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field with emphasis on frontier multimodal LLMs.
• 5+ years of experience deploying large-scale ML models; recent 2–3 years building agent-based systems or multi-agent collaboration.
• Experience developing engaging dialogue systems capable of long conversations and context-aware tool selection.

Responsibilities

• Develop large-scale, fault-tolerant multimodal agentic experiences reaching millions of customers.
• Design and develop multiple agent interaction modes, including Voice AI and Deep Research.
• Pioneer evaluation frameworks, tracing systems, and safety guardrails for trustworthy AI agents.
• Stay at the cutting edge of agentic paradigms and translate them into product innovation.
• Lead complex multi-team initiatives, bridging applied research and scalable engineering.
• Translate research findings into actionable insights for executives and cross-functional teams.
