Job summary

Disney Entertainment and ESPN Product & Technology is seeking a Principal Machine Learning Engineer to define the technical architecture and strategic direction of the N&E ML Platform across ABC News, ABC Entertainment, National Geographic, Marvel, and Disney Studios.

You will drive improvements in personalization, recommendation systems, and ML infrastructure, partnering with senior leadership and cross‑org teams.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, statistics, math, or comparable field of study.
10+ years of experience building and operating ML engineering systems in production environments.
Deep expertise in data science, deep learning algorithms, and statistical methods for large-scale engineering problems.
Demonstrated experience owning architecture across a significant platform, with architecture documents and reviews.

Responsibilities

Define end-to-end architecture of the N&E ML platform across ABC News, ABC Entertainment, National Geographic, Marvel, and Disney Studios.
Identify, scope, and prioritize the most impactful ML workstreams and drive a metrics-driven mindset.
Drive design and evolution of ML infrastructure: data pipelines, orchestration, feature stores, training, and low-latency serving.
Stay at the forefront of ML/AI trends and champion adoption of new technologies across the N&E portfolio.
Own production incidents during weekly leadership reviews and drive reliability programs.
Mentor senior engineers and elevate cross-org engineering standards.
