Job summary

Disney Entertainment and ESPN Product & Technology in Glendale, California seeks a Principal Machine Learning Engineer to define the technical architecture and strategic direction of the N&E ML Platform. You will drive step-function improvements in personalization, recommendations, and ML infrastructure across Disney’s News & Entertainment brands.

You’ll bridge business goals with technical execution, partnering with senior leaders and cross-functional teams to set engineering

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent work experience.
10+ years of experience building and operating ML engineering systems in production.
Proven ability to own architecture across a significant platform or product domain.
Excellent communication, influence, and collaboration skills with senior leadership.

Responsibilities

Define end-to-end architecture of the N&E ML platform across ABC News, ABC Entertainment, National Geographic, Marvel and Disney Studios.
Identify and prioritize high-impact ML workstreams with a metrics-driven mindset.
Design and evolve ML infrastructure: data pipelines, orchestration, feature stores, training, and online serving.
Champion reliability, observability, and operational excellence across the ML platform.
Mentor senior engineers and elevate a culture of ownership and technical rigor.
