Job summary

Uber is seeking a Principal Engineer, Machine Learning / AI to lead the development of large-scale Foundation Models using Uber’s marketplace data. This role blends hands-on technical contributions with high-level architectural leadership, shaping model architectures, training strategies, and representation learning across multiple Uber platforms.

• Proven track record designing and scaling deep learning systems.
• Experience leading technical initiatives and cross-functional teams.
• Strong background in large-scale AI infrastructure and training systems.

Responsibilities

• Architect and build large-scale Foundation Models using vast marketplace data.
• Define long-term model strategy including architectures and training approaches.
• Develop embeddings and representations to improve downstream ML models.
• Partner with Mobility, Delivery, Earner, Merchant, and Consumer teams to drive impact.
• Influence training infrastructure and distributed computing for model training and deployment.
• Provide hands-on technical leadership while guiding architecture decisions.
