Job summary

The AES Corporation in the United States seeks a Principal Mechanical Engineer - Thermal Projects to provide technical leadership for the mechanical design of thermal power generation projects across development, construction, and operation. You will oversee third-party engineering, design reviews, procurement specifications, and commissioning support.

You will mentor engineers, support gas turbines, HRSGs, steam turbines, and balance-of-plant systems, and coordinate with cross-functional teams

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent technical field.
• 10+ years of mechanical engineering experience in power generation or major capital projects.
• Ability to interpret P&IDs, equipment drawings, piping specs, layouts, and vendor documents.
• Strong cross-functional coordination and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, review, and support engineering for gas and steam turbines, HRSGs, fuel-gas systems, cooling systems, water treatment, piping, pumps, heat exchangers, and mechanical balance-of-plant.
• Prepare and review design criteria, calculations, drawings, specifications, data sheets, and technical reports.
• Coordinate interfaces with civil, structural, electrical, controls, environmental, operations, and construction disciplines.
• Review vendor work products for compliance with project requirements and standards.
• Provide field engineering support and ensure conformance with approved documents and safety requirements.
