Job summary

QinetiQ US is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer in Franklin, MA to lead the design, development, analysis, and maintenance of rugged military and commercial hardware. You will act as a technical lead for existing and new products, evaluating design changes and overseeing tasks across the team.

The role requires extensive experience in electromechanical systems, DFМ, FEA, and documentation. Will interface with customers and vendors and may require DoD clearance if needed.

Qualifications

• 10–20 years of mechanical design experience.
• Experience leading design teams (up to 6 engineers/designers).
• Experience with DoD programs and military hardware preferred.

Responsibilities

• Electromechanical design, layout, modeling, and production support.
• FEA analysis using ANSYS Workbench.
• Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and tolerance analyses.
• Interface with customers and vendors on engineering topics.
• Prepare design specifications, reports, and proposals.
• Guide vendors and manufacturing in build of DoD electromechanical assemblies.
