Job summary

RTX is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer in El Segundo, CA, to design and package airborne radar subsystems including antenna, receiver, and power supplies. You will lead design trades, develop concepts from requirements, and create detailed CAD layouts while coordinating with suppliers and engineering teams.

The role requires a STEM degree and 7+ years of experience in electronic packaging for airborne applications, with CREO proficiency and an active security clearance preferred.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) degree or minimum of 7 years’ prior relevant experience.
• Experience with ANSI drawing standards and GD&T is required or highly desirable.
• Experience with electronic packaging for airborne applications is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support on major programs and interface with Lead Mechanical Engineers and Chief Engineers to support design objectives.
• Lead smaller project teams through design development and ensure procedures are followed in data package creation.
• Develop unit design concepts from requirements and perform design trades.
• Create detailed layouts and design documentation using CAD tools and support suppliers.
• Understand Change Release processes and work within the Product Data Management system.
• Serve as a Responsible Engineering Authority for a subsystem.
