Job summary

Raytheon is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer in El Segundo to contribute to the Radar Antenna Design II section. The role involves mechanical packaging design for Airborne Radar Subsystems, including enclosure, heat exchangers, RF assemblies, wiring, and power supplies.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) degree or a minimum of 7 years’ prior relevant experience.
• Experience with ANSI drawing standards; GD&T; electronic packaging for airborne applications.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support on major programs and interface with Lead Mechanical Engineers and Chief Engineers to support design objectives.
• Lead smaller project teams through design development and ensure procedures are followed to create technical data packages.
• Develop unit design concepts from requirements and perform design trades.
• Create detailed layouts and design documentation using CAD tools.
• Support suppliers who fabricate components and assemblies.
• Understand and work within Product Data Management (PDM) system and change release processes.
• Act as Responsible Engineering Authority (REA) for a subsystem.
