Description

SAIC is looking for an Engineer to support our NSWC Crane customer, in the Small Arms Weapons Division, JXN. This role requires individuals with advanced education and 15 years of experience in mechanical engineering of ammunition, handling complex engineering tasks.

Job Duties
  1. Provide test and evaluation, engineering, modeling and simulation, and prepare technical data packages for Small Arms Ammunition (.22 through .60 caliber and 40mm grenades).
  2. Support NSWC Crane small arms ammunition projects by developing Design Verification Test plans, Hazard Classification plans, Surface Danger Zones development plans, and project cost estimates.
  3. Assist in ammunition development, safety, reliability, and performance evaluation.
  4. Develop ammunition performance specifications and drawings following ASME Y14.100M and MILSTD-100 standards.
  5. Design test methods and test equipment.
  6. Draft Test and Evaluation Plans, SOPs, Hazard Analyses, Environmental and Performance Test Reports, Hazard Classification and Insensitive Munitions Reports, and Demilitarization/Disposal Plans.
Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from an ABET-accredited university and at least 9 years of experience.
  • Extensive experience with all calibers of ammunition, test equipment, and requirements (SAAMI, SCATP), along with safety qualification knowledge.
  • Knowledge of technical documentation methods supporting weapons and ammunition products throughout their lifecycle.
  • Ability to prepare test plans, reports, and technical documents for various calibers of ammunition.

Required Clearance:

  • Interim clearance required to start, with ability to obtain a Secret clearance.
