Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Principal or Senior Principal Manufacturing Engineer to join the Power/Control Systems team at the Sykesville, MD facility. The role focuses on developing and improving manufacturing processes for advanced electro-mechanical assemblies in national security and non-defense applications.

Candidates should have strong communication, cross-functional collaboration, and problem-solving skills, with experience in CAD and a path to obtaining a Secret clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in a STEM area with 5+ years in Manufacturing/Process Engineering, Production, or related area or a Master’s with 3+ years.
• Experience in MS Office software applications.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment in an engineering support role.
• Experience with developing new processes in a cross-functional team.
• 3D solid modeling using CAD software.
• Must obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
• US Citizenship is required.

Responsibilities

• Developing new and maintaining or improving existing manufacturing processes with focus on affordability.
• Lead Manufacturing Readiness Review for new design efforts to ensure production can begin.
• Provide ROI justification for process improvements.
• Create and manage project plans for process development activities.
• Create and document designs for tooling using CAD and PLM software.
• Procure new manufacturing equipment for production readiness and prepare equipment.
• Develop and optimize process parameters.
• Develop/revise process documentation and work instructions.
• Monitor process yields and costs and implement improvements.
• Troubleshoot manufacturing problems related to materials, designs, equipment and tooling.
• Assist with training of new personnel and design operations training materials.
• Support factory maintenance with troubleshooting process equipment.
• Recommend product design improvements for advanced electro-mechanical assemblies.
• Document novel process capabilities and guidelines for designers.
• Participate in design readiness and producibility reviews for new products.
• Provide supplier support to resolve issues in the supply base.
• Provide RFP input related to NRE requirements such as tooling, capital equipment, and new process development.
