Chesterfield County Parks and Recreation is seeking motivated individuals to join our park maintenance team. This year‑round outdoor role involves early hours, physical work, and maintaining trails, historical sites and waterways.

Uniforms, safety footwear and PPE are provided along with a strong benefits package. Duties include mowing, litter removal, basic construction, bridge and boardwalk repairs, and operating light equipment.

Qualificações

• High school diploma or GED; two years experience in parks maintenance, landscaping, general maintenance/labor, or custodial work; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Must possess or obtain within nine months of employment a Registered Technician Pesticide License.
• Current valid driver’s license and good driving record.
• Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required.

Responsabilidades

• Performs a variety of maintenance and operational tasks to maintain park trail facilities, Historical sites and waterways; typical tasks include mowing, litter removal, moderate construction to include building and repairing of bridges and boardwalks; operate various types of equipment including skid steer, mini excavator, loader and attachments; carpentry and use of power tools; experience with chainsaw operation; ability to lift 50 pounds or more.
• Supports Trades/Special Event team with special events.
• Works in various outdoor conditions performing physically demanding tasks including heavy lifting, walking and prolonged standing.
• Develops and maintains effective working relationships with internal and external customers, contractors, and team members.
• Communicates effectively.
• Performs other work as required.

Good oral/written communication, interpersonal and public relations skills needed; must possess or obtain within nine months of employment, a Registered Technician Pesticide License.Current valid driver’s license and good driving record required. Based on the Virginia DMV point system, records must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months. Out-of-state driving records must be obtained by applicant and presented at time of interview. Records must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within thirty days of interview date. Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required.

This position is considered Safety Sensitive and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing.

Perform carpentry and use of various types of power tools; experience with chainsaw operation and proper techniques for felling trees; able to perform equipment maintenance; ability to lift 50 pounds or more.
