Job summary

LJA Engineering, Inc. is seeking a Principal Landscape Architect to lead a team of landscape designers for innovative, integrated solutions across all project phases.

You will mentor staff and collaborate with leaders to drive design excellence from pursuit through construction documentation. With 15+ years in landscape architecture and a licensed credential, you will manage budgets, proposals, and subconsultants while fostering sustainable site concepts on large-scale projects.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 15 years of progressively responsible experience in landscape architecture.
• 5+ years’ experience as a practice leader and manager with direct reports.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, Bluebeam and Microsoft Office Suite; knowledge of 3D applications.
• Ability to build strong relationships

Responsibilities

• Lead landscape architecture design within projects of varying scales, guiding concepts and design development to construction documentation.
• Mentor and develop junior design staff; motivate and manage teams to achieve design excellence.
• Work with principals to organize and manage the office’s day‑to‑day operations.
• Develop budgets and project proposals, approve expenses and timesheets, review invoices.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers and other site disciplines on large commercial projects.
• Establish and retain knowledge of sustainable site concepts.
