Job summary

HighRes Biosolutions Inc (Headquarters) in Beverly, MA seeks a Principal Automation Engineer to lead deployment architectures for complex lab automation across our product lines. You will set standards for integrations, testing, and orchestration of LIMS, ELN, and third-party platforms, ensuring scalable and reliable deployments in a fast-growing team.

You will mentor engineers, partner with Product, Software, and Systems teams, and selectively lead on-site deployments where technical risk

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline and 8+ years of relevant experience; or Master’s 7+ years; or Associate’s with 10+ years
• Extensive hands-on experience configuring, integrating, troubleshooting, and deploying laboratory automation systems in customer-facing settings
• Experience with laboratory automation scheduling software such as CellarioScheduler, Green Button Go (Biosero), Momentum (Thermo Fisher), Overlord (PAA)
• Demonstrated experience architecting deployment standards, integration patterns, or test methodology adopted by an engineering organization
• Proficiency in C# or another OO language, with scripting or device integration
• Hands-on experience with robotic arms (SCARA & articulated)
• Strong diagnostic skills across hardware, software, network, and integration layers
• Excellent written and verbal communication, ability to explain technical issues to non-technical audiences
• Willingness to travel up to 20% domestically and internationally
• Reliable transportation for regional travel
• Comfortable in lab and technical environments

Responsibilities

• Define deployment standards, integration patterns, and acceptance criteria across the product line
• Architect technical approach for multi-system deployments including LIMS, ELN, and third-party platforms
• Establish cross-system workflow orchestration and sample tracking patterns
• Lead integration of new HighRes products and third-party devices into deployment processes
• Define operation, integration, and testing procedures for new and uncommon products
• Collaborate with Product, Applications, Software, and System Design to define product introduction requirements
• Serve as final escalation point for multi-system issues and ensure resolution and documentation
• Identify patterns in escalations and failures and design systemic preventative measures
• Occasionally own on-site deployment as warranted by project risk
• Drive technical training, standards docs, and knowledge sharing
