Principal IT SAP Functional Analyst-Powerplan

Location: Oakland, CA, (Hybrid) | Perm Position

Position Summary

The IT SAP Functional Analyst PowerPlan is responsible for configuring, implementing, maintaining, and upgrading all PowerPlan modules.

The analyst analyzes business requirements, creates functional design documents, and performs system configuration and localization to provide solutions for the Line of Business and IT organizations. This role acts as a strategic partner and business liaison in technology decisions, providing ongoing PowerPlan system support, analyzing requirements, and developing integrated IT and complex business solutions.

Responsibilities

Business Support and Consulting:

• Define standard processes in PowerPlan and promote their adoption in Finance and Tax areas.
• Analyze complex business processes across all PowerPlan modules.
• Understand current and future business environments; anticipate and meet business needs using PowerPlan capabilities.
• Identify and propose IT solutions to cross-organizational business problems, negotiating requirements and deliverables.
• Evaluate customizations, assessing risks and costs, advocating for standard functionalities to reduce costs and TCO.

Functional Analysis:

• Automate and optimize PowerPlan systems.
• Map business requirements to SAP S4 system capabilities and configure accordingly.
• Review design and technical specifications for alignment with business solutions.
• Perform configuration, quality review, and testing activities.

Qualifications

Minimum:

• 10 years of experience in Information Technology.
• 8 years as a Functional Analyst in PowerPlan.

Desired:

• Knowledge of CR, PM, Asset/ARO, Depr modules and data flow.
• Experience with project creation, estimation, approval.
• Experience with charges, work orders, PowerTax, Tax Repairs, and data integrity processes.
• Knowledge of Lease Accounting Module (if applicable).
• Experience with Month-End Close, PowerPlan Integration Tools, SDLC, and ETL processes.

Additional Desired Skills:

• SAP: familiarity with tables, GUI, Hana, and integration impacts.
• S4HANA ERP: experience with large projects, forecasting, FP&A, and dashboarding.
• Functional Skills: accounting concepts, asset management, depreciation, ARO, and related accounting standards.
• Non-Technical Skills: effective communication with technical and non-technical teams, issue resolution, and storytelling.
