Job summary

Optimum Design Associates, an Emerald Technologies company, is seeking a Principal Hardware Design Engineer for a remote US role. You will design digital/analog/power circuits, develop FPGA/CPLD solutions, and drive design verification and system integration from concept to production.

The role requires 10+ years in hardware, a BS in EE/CE, and proficiency with DxDesigner, Altium, and Cadence tools. Expect collaboration across multidisciplinary teams and a strong emphasis on quality and

  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Expert user of PCB/schematic tools (DxDesigner, Altium, Cadence).

  • System and Circuit Design: Digital, Analog, and Power.
  • Schematic Capture and Layout Review/Guidance/Management.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Apply independence and creativity to drive project design scope and deliverables.
  • System and Circuit Design: Digital, Analog, and Power.
  • Analog/RF experience is a plus.
  • BLE and/or WiFi experience a plus.
  • Schematic Capture and Layout Review/Guidance/Management.
  • Pre&Post Signal and Power Integrity analysis (optional).
  • FPGA and CPLD design (Verilog, VHDL).
  • FPGA test benches and verification (ModelSim, Xilinx, Altera, etc.).
  • Develop Functional Design Specifications.
  • Develop test plans/methods to ensure product reliability and performance targets are met.
  • Prototype bring-up and system integration.
  • Working knowledge of EMC/CE/UL compliance requirements.
  • Software and Firmware development.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • 10+ years of experience
  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering required.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Expert user of one or more of the following tools: Siemens DxDesigner, Altium and Cadence Allego/OrCAD.
  • Application of formal project management and system engineering methodologies to development of complex, high performance electronics systems.
  • Work history in aerospace/defense market a plus.
