Job summary

Emerald Technologies is seeking a Principal Hardware Design Engineer to join Optimum Design Associates’ team in a work-from-home arrangement in the US. This senior role focuses on digital, analog, power, and RF design, with FPGA/CPLD development and extensive schematics work.

You will drive design scope, perform system analysis, ensure EMC/CE/UL considerations, and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in hardware design and development.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Experience with DxDesigner, Altium, and Cadence tools.
  • Work history in aerospace/defense market is a plus.

  • Apply independence and creativity to drive project design scope and deliverables.
  • System and Circuit Design: Digital, Analog, and Power.
  • Analog/RF experience is a plus.
  • BLE and/or WiFi experience a plus.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Apply independence and creativity to drive project design scope and deliverables.
  • System and Circuit Design: Digital, Analog, and Power.
  • Analog/RF experience is a plus.
  • BLE and/or WiFi experience a plus.
  • Schematic Capture and Layout Review/Guidance/Management.
  • Pre&Post Signal and Power Integrity analysis (optional).
  • FPGA and CPLD design (Verilog, VHDL).
  • FPGA test benches and verification (ModelSim, Xilinx, Altera, etc.).
  • Develop Functional Design Specifications.
  • Develop test plans/methods to ensure product reliability and performance targets are met.
  • Prototype bring-up and system integration.
  • Working knowledge of EMC/CE/UL compliance requirements.
  • Software and Firmware development.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • 10+ years of experience
  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering required.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Expert user of one or more of the following tools: Siemens DxDesigner, Altium and Cadence Allego/OrCAD.
  • Application of formal project management and system engineering methodologies to development of complex, high performance electronics systems.
  • Work history in aerospace/defense market a plus.
