Job summary

Protect Democracy in the United States seeks a Principal Giving Officer to manage a high-capacity donor portfolio and drive six- and seven-figure gifts. This remote role reports to the Chief Partnerships Officer and works with the Executive Director.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years in fundraising, a track record of $1M+ gifts, and deep knowledge of the pro-democracy ecosystem. You will advance donor relationships and help fund our democracy initiatives.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of direct fundraising experience with major gifts.
• Experience securing $1M+ gifts annually.
• At least three years in the pro-democracy sector fundraising.
• Strong communication, advocacy and relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of 6- and 7-figure donors and gifts.
• Represent Protect Democracy in external meetings and presentations.
• Develop tailored strategies to engage new major donors.
• Cultivate relationships with the board, donors, and partners.
• Oversee full donor engagement cycle, including meetings for $1M+ investments.
• Collaborate across the Partnerships team and share resources.
• Contribute to organizational culture-building initiatives.
