Job summary

The Hartford is seeking a Principal AI Engineer to build a scalable AI platform that accelerates GenAI and traditional ML use cases. You will lead architecture, design, and productionization efforts across a broad set of data and AI technologies, while mentoring engineers and aligning with security and cloud teams.

This hybrid/remote role requires deep hands-on expertise in data, analytics, MLOps/LLMOps, and a collaborative mindset to empower internal customers and transform the business with AI.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a technical field.
• 10+ years of experience with cloud (AWS / GCP).
• Extensive programming experience with Python and Typescript.
• 8+ years designing data-intensive solutions using distributed computing.
• 10+ years building software/platform infrastructure for enterprises.
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms and services for AI / GenAI.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and testing tools.
• Experience with scalable serverless applications.
• Knowledge of distributed NoSQL databases.
• Experience with data engineering, ETL and HPCs is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead the AI platform build and accelerate GenAI and ML solutions.
• Define and execute the AI platform vision and roadmap.
• Drive POCs and prototypes to validate capabilities for enterprise use.
• Provide hands-on engineering support for platform capabilities and tooling.
• Partner with Architecture, Cloud, Security to implement platform solutions.
• Collaborate with DS team to develop a self-service internal AI platform.
• Provide leadership and mentorship to engineers on the team.
