Job summary

Rocket Lab seeks a Principal Algorithm Engineer to develop, validate, and deploy advanced EO/IR image-processing algorithms for space payloads in Chantilly, VA. You will collaborate across ML, optical design, and simulations to deliver real-time solutions and analytics for mission success.

The role requires a PhD/Master or 12+ years of experience, strong Python and C/C++, and the ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance. You will lead and mentor peers while meeting program milestones.

Qualifications

• Strong experience designing and optimizing EO/IR image-processing algorithms.
• Proficiency in Python; experience with computer vision methods.
• Experience with image stabilization, 3-D modeling, object tracking.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Develop, validate, and deploy EO/IR image-processing algorithms for space payloads.
• Collaborate with ML, optical design, and simulation teams.
• Transition complex image-processing algorithms into real-time implementations.
