Job Description:

Are you seeking an opportunity to fast-track your development as a leader within an established Environmental practice with a strong tradition and backlog? Do you want to work on a variety of unique projects that impact your community? Parsons is seeking an experienced Environmental Engineer to enhance community fabric, grow their career, and develop leadership potential. Join our Syracuse office, a Center of Excellence for our Environmental practice for over 35 years.

Role:

This position supports and/or leads engineering assessments and activities for remedial design and construction projects, from initial investigation to final implementation and long-term management. You will collaborate with project teams across our Environmental Practice group throughout the Northeast.

The engineer will handle complex assignments, applying engineering techniques and analyses. As a fully qualified professional, you will be proficient in engineering theories and practices. Occasional travel to supplier, client, or construction sites is expected. The role includes learning and applying project management skills through Parsons training and mentorship.

The ideal candidate aims to learn the business side of the industry and pursue leadership roles within five years.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare design drawings, technical specifications, presentations, lead meetings, and develop work products for reviews.
  • Review contract submittals and perform bid analyses.
  • Conduct engineering computations, material estimates, surveys, and designs.
  • Issue specifications, data sheets, and construction documents.
  • Provide seal and signature as a professional engineer, ensuring compliance with all codes and regulations.
  • Guide CAD Designers, Drafters, and junior Engineers.
  • Support proposal efforts for new opportunities.
  • Mentor and develop junior staff.
  • Engage in client interactions through technical presentations and meetings.
  • Collaborate with other Parsons divisions, including Federal, Transportation, and Infrastructure groups.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field; typically 10+ years of experience.
  • NY Professional Engineer registration preferred or willingness to obtain within 1 year. Registration is required for advancement.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Approximately 90% office work and 10% field work, with flexible options.
  • Independent work ethic, adaptability, and eagerness to lead challenging projects.
  • Proficiency in CAD and engineering software, with ability to guide project designers.
