Job Responsibilities
- Prepare permits and collect permit data related to mining, including but not limited to: Title V Air Permit, Industrial Wastewater Permits (NPDES), and Stormwater Permits.
- Develop relationships and support plant staff to ensure environmental compliance and support for projects related to air and wastewater quality, stormwater management, greenhouse gas emissions, and environmental audits.
- Respond to emergency situations such as spills and discharges, coordinating with emergency, fire, and spill response teams (must be on-call at all times).
- Collaborate with various departments to understand their production plans and potential changes.
- Collect data and maintain records on air emissions, discharge monitoring reports (DMR), and waste management.
- Establish schedules and methods for providing environmental compliance and regulatory services.
- Participate in new hire orientation and update annual refresher training on environmental requirements.
- Lead the Environmental Education Program (EEP) and foster community involvement through the Environmental Learning Center (ELC).
- Maintain certifications such as ISCC, South Carolina Environmental Excellence Program (EEP), Wildlife and Industry Together (W.A.I.T.), Zero Waste to Landfill, and South Carolina Solar Habitat Program (Certified Silver Level).
- Maintain ISO 14001 certifications.
- Manage on-site contractors responsible for waste handling, recycling, waste oil collection, janitorial, and process cleaning.
- Understand plant processes and waste streams to develop safe and cost-effective waste management strategies.
- Have thorough knowledge of applicable regulations: air (Title V), waste (RCRA), and water (SPCC & SWPPP), including waste disposal regulations.
- Experience with ISO 14001 certifications.
Requirements
- Minimum 8 years of related experience or 6 years plus a Master's Degree (or PhD without experience).
- Bachelor's Degree.
- ISO 14001 Certification.
