Job summary

Sterling Inspired Staffing is seeking a Principal Engineering Designer to lead land development and public works projects in California. The role emphasizes plan development from concept through final documents, coordinating with clients and agencies, and guiding a team of engineers, designers, and technicians.

Candidates should have a BSCE, CA registration preferred, and a track record of delivering grading, PS&E, and entitlement packages with strong regulatory navigation and communication

Qualifications

• BSCE degree or equivalent
• California registration as a Professional Civil Engineer is preferred but not required
• Minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience in land development and/or public works (or eight (8) years in the industry)
• Minimum of two (2) years of supervising engineers, designers and support staff

Responsibilities

• Prepare grading and public improvement plans from concept to final documents for residential, multi-family and corporate campus development
• Prepare and process technical studies and site plans to obtain entitlements for land development projects
• Prepare Plans, Specifications, and Estimates (PS&E) for public infrastructure improvements (street, sewer, storm drains)
• Site assessments and engineering design studies considering infrastructure requirements and regulatory issues
• Prepare and process regulatory plans
• Prepare/process plans through Los Angeles and Ventura County Public Works
• Perform constructability reviews
• Experience with construction support services

About the job Principal Engineering Designer

Qualifications

Candidate will have BSCE degree, California Registration as a Professional Civil Engineer is preferred, but not required; plus, a minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience in land development and/or public works; or the equivalent work experience of eight (8) years in the industry.

Qualified candidates will also have a minimum of two (2) years of supervising the work of engineers, designers, and other project support staff.

Candidates for this position must demonstrate:

• Ability to prepare grading and public improvement plans from conceptual design to final documents to support residential, multi-family and corporate campus development
• As well as preparation and processing of technical studies and site plans to obtain entitlements for land development projects
• Ability to prepare Plans, Specifications, and Estimates (PS&E) for public infrastructure improvement plans, such as street, sewer, and storm drains
• Site assessment, the ability to perform engineering design studies (incorporating infrastructure requirements and potential regulatory issues)
• Preparation and processing of regulatory plans
• Ability to prepare/process plans through Los Angeles and Ventura Country Public Works
• Ability to perform constructability reviews
• Experience with a range of construction support services

Must have knowledge of:

• Jurisdictional codes, standards & procedures preferably in the Los Angeles area
• AutoCAD and Bluebeam experience is required
