Job summary

Airbus Americas, Inc. in Wichita, Kansas seeks a Principal Engineering Applications Developer to guide design, development, and implementation of complex software for aviation engineering.

You will set standards, mentor others, and translate requirements into technical strategies across the organization. The role requires a BS in engineering or related fields and at least 13 years' aerospace/manufacturing experience, plus strong analytical and communication skills.

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering (Aero, Civil, Mechanical), Computer Science, Data Science, or Mathematics.
• A minimum of 13 years experience in aerospace, government, legal, engineering or manufacturing environment.
• Advanced analytical reporting experience and demonstrable communications and computer skills.
• Authorized to Work in the US.

Responsibilities

• Develops new software and improves existing software based on requirements and requests from customers and colleagues.
• Participates in solution design, requirements gathering, and backlog refinement processes.
• Assist in the design process of new systems and architectures and inform the development of better programming practices and procedures.
• Designs, develops, implements, documents, and tests changes across multiple applications to ensure deliverables are high quality and meets user expectations.
• Applies extensive technical expertise and strong knowledge of other related engineering disciplines (e.g., cloud architecture, data security) to all responsibilities.
• Acts as technical expert to analyze, consult, and recommend application software solutions based on the business needs.
• Develops advanced technological ideas and guides their development into a final product.
• Works individually and with cross functional teams to develop solutions from product requirements, business cases, and development plans.
• Leads technical aspects of major projects successfully, supporting all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle.
• Crafts project plans and planning at the program level, setting goals/target specs, and KPIs.

Education

Bachelor of Science (BS) in Engineering (Aero, Civil, Mechanical), Computer Science, Data Science, or Mathematics.
