Job summary

Bombardier Transportation GmbH in Wichita, Kansas, seeks a Professional Senior engineer for Propulsion Systems. You will join the Propulsion Systems Engineering group, manage interfaces, define architectures, and drive trade studies to deliver reliable propulsion solutions for aerospace applications.

You will collaborate across disciplines, manage requirements, and author design documents while guiding suppliers and supporting test platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• 8+ years of relevant aerospace engineering experience.
• Knowledge of propulsion and interfacing disciplines (e.g., installation, pneumatics, avionics, electrical).
• Fundamentals in thermodynamics, gas dynamics, combustion, fluids, control systems.
• Familiar with DO-160 component qualification.
• Familiar with ARP 4754A design process assurance.
• Knowledge of system design tools and simulation software.
• Willingness to travel and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Be part of the Propulsion Systems Engineering group, supporting systems within propulsion discipline (e.g., Fuel, Powerplant, FTIS, FIDEEX, APU).
• Manage interfaces and integrate assigned systems, coordinating with stakeholders.
• Define propulsion system architecture, prepare specs and requirements, and conduct trade studies.
• Collaborate on multidisciplinary projects, providing technical input to define solutions.
• Manage engineering requirements from creation and validation to verification.
• Author, review, and approve engineering design documents, procedures, tests and reports.
• Manage suppliers from engineering perspective.
• Support build and operation of test platforms (rigs, flight test vehicles).
• Lead technical investigations of propulsion issues.
• Analyze system data to troubleshoot and recommend steps.
• Support production and in-service teams on system engineering issues.
• Ensure adherence to program schedules and milestones.
• Contribute to Propulsion Systems Knowledge Domain and Bombardier BES.
