Job summary

Georgia System Operations Corporation (GSOC) seeks a Principal Engineer to provide senior technical leadership for the Energy Control System (ECS) and related critical applications supporting real-time grid operations.

This senior role oversees security, availability, backup, and operational resilience across ECS and related systems in a mission-critical control center, coordinating with operators, engineers, and vendors while mentoring staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• 10 years in on-call software/hardware support for a utility EMS.
• 4 years software development with operational responsibility.
• Experience in Unix/Windows NT/IP networks desired.
• Professional Engineer cert, Bulk Electric System Cyber Authorized status, NERC risk status required or maintainable.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead restoration, problem resolution, and recovery for ECS hardware, software, applications, and data.
• Direct associates, contractors, and vendors to maximize ECS availability.
• Manage security devices, firewalls, and external connections protecting ECS systems.
