Job summary

WEG Electric Corp. seeks a Principal Engineer in Duluth, GA to provide senior technical leadership across complex industrial, power generation, and grid stability projects. You will guide project teams, mentor engineers, and coordinate with customers, EPCs, utilities, and internal teams.

Responsibilities include reviewing specs, steering MV VFD and power system integration, and ensuring compliance with standards. Travel for FATs, commissioning, and customer meetings is expected.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of engineering experience in rotating equipment, MV drives, power systems, or grid stability.
• Strong knowledge of motors, generators, MV VFDs, and related electrical systems.
• Experience in industrial, utility, or EPC project environments.
• Familiarity with NEMA, IEEE, IEC, UL, and other industry standards.
• Ability to read electrical and mechanical drawings and specifications.
• Experience supporting customer-facing technical discussions and project execution.
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams, mentor engineers, and influence stakeholders.
• Strong project management, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership during project pursuit, proposal development, engineering execution, commissioning, and customer support.
• Serve as the primary technical resource for customers, utilities, EPCs, consultants, and project stakeholders.
• Review technical specifications, assess project risks, and develop engineering solutions.
• Support MV VFD, motor, generator, and power system integration activities.
• Lead technical reviews, design discussions, FATs, and commissioning activities as required.
• Ensure engineering deliverables comply with applicable industry standards and customer requirements.
• Mentor Project Engineers and provide technical guidance.
• Coordinate and manage external engineering consultants when required.
• Resolve complex technical issues during project execution and startup.
