Datacenter People are currently supporting a specialist investment and advisory practice focused on energy, cloud and digital infrastructure in the search for a Principal Engineer, Power Systems to join its team on a remote basis in the United States.
This is a senior, consultancy-side role supporting hyperscale and large-scale data center developments across the US and wider Americas, from early-stage power strategy and utility engagement through to substation delivery and energization.
The business sits at the intersection of power strategy, grid intelligence, energy procurement and data center delivery. It is not a traditional engineering consultancy, developer or EPC, and the role blends strong electrical engineering credibility with commercial judgment and direct client influence.
You will advise clients on how and where to secure power for major data center developments, assessing utility transmission and distribution networks, identifying optimal interconnection opportunities and managing the process through to energization.
Working within a small, highly experienced team spanning power, data center and fiber disciplines, you will take significant ownership of projects and work directly with customers, utilities, contractors and vendors.
The role also supports the business in identifying investment opportunities across power and energy infrastructure.
Data center design and/or construction experience is strongly preferred. PE licensure, experience with utility and ISO/RTO interconnection processes, knowledge of NEC, NFPA and IEEE standards, and renewable or energy storage experience would be highly advantageous.
We regret that due to the high volume of applications we are unable to acknowledge each one. Please bear in mind that if you are selected for interview we will contact you within the next seven days.
