Job summary

Google is seeking a Senior Storage Architect for the Google Distributed Cloud (GDC) to lead the storage strategy and execution for on-premise and hybrid environments. You will influence software engineers, partner with product and engineering managers, and help shape the GDC storage roadmap for public sector, retail, and telecom markets.

You will guide a team, collaborate across functions, and drive high-performance storage solutions that integrate with Google Cloud AI-led services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• 15 years of cloud computing experience including enterprise applications, infrastructure, storage, platforms and data.
• 10 years building enterprise storage systems.
• Experience with private/public cloud design: developer/productivity, virtualization, containers, HPC, data, security, automation.
• Experience guiding teams to deliver services for internal/external stakeholders.

• Collaborate with tech leads to develop a strategic roadmap for GDCE storage.
• Work with global team to balance architecture, time-to-market, and business goals.
• Drive strategic roadmap to scale GDC Storage and data protection.
• Lead the overall storage end-to-end technical strategy for GDC.

Job description

Minimum qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, similar field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 15 years of experience in cloud computing (e.g., enterprise applications, infrastructure, storage, platforms and data).
• 10 years of experience building enterprise storage systems.
• Experience with private and public cloud design considerations in the areas of developer and operator productivity, virtualization, containers, high performance computing, data, security and config/policy automation.
• Experience providing technical guidance and working with teams to deliver services for internal and external stakeholders.

Preferred qualifications

• Master's degree or PhD in in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience in designing and implementing large-scale filesystems or distributed storage systems.
• Experience leading product development of 2nd generation cloud products at scale.
• Experience with any of the following IaaS solutions: Kubernetes, system virtualization, on-premise or hybrid cloud computing, cloud identity and security system, cloud monitoring and logging, or local and cloud storage.
• Technical expertise in systems and software with the leadership skills needed to influence technical leaders across the company.

US: $307000 - $427000 (USD) + 30% bonus target + equity + benefits

• Collaborate with peer tech leads in Google Distributed Cloud Edge Delivery (GDCE) to develop a strategic roadmap to remediate all reliability findings.
• Collaborate with a global team of engineers and product managers to execute making appropriate tradeoffs between architecture, time-to-market, and business goals.
• Drive systems and tools, and infrastructure strategic roadmap and development to improve the ability to scale GDC Storage.
• Lead the overall Storage end-to-end technical strategy for GDC.
