Job summary

Google is seeking a Software Engineer to advance its large-scale storage infrastructure. You will study the Infrastructure Storage System, measure performance with defined metrics, and help design improvements that scale for billions of users.

Collaborate with researchers and data scientists, run experiments, develop prototypes, and push production-ready solutions. You’ll contribute to analytics, modeling and AI efforts across Google Cloud while expanding your expertise in distributed systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 2 years of software development or 1 year with an advanced degree.
• Statistical analysis and analytics frameworks experience.
• Testing, debugging, and deployment in C++ and Python.
• Experience with distributed systems.
• Master's degree or PhD in CS or related fields (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Build a deep understanding of Google’s Infrastructure Storage System and how its components perform optimally using defined metrics, insightful statistics, and explanatory models.
• Characterize inefficient behaviors and irregular anomalies and identify the causes of such behaviors.
• Propose deployment efficiency improvements to the design architecture, system monitoring, resource provisioning, and production operations policies.
• Engage in research with leading academic institutions and industrial vendors and thus provide guidance to storage engineering functions.
