Job summary

Google’s Distributed Cloud Storage team is seeking a leader to drive on-premise and private cloud storage initiatives. You will guide a team of engineers, work with product and program managers, and shape the storage roadmap for diverse markets. Strong emphasis on security, virtualization, and scalable data platforms.

You will influence architecture decisions, mentor engineers, and collaborate with global partners to deliver enterprise-grade storage solutions across multi-cloud environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 15 years in cloud computing (enterprise apps, infra, storage, platforms, data).
• 10 years building enterprise storage systems.
• Experience with private/public cloud design considerations for productivity, virtualization, containers, HPC, data, security, automation.
• Experience guiding teams to deliver services for internal/external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Execute for GDC Storage and Data Protection.
• Influence a team of software engineers and collaborate with product management and engineering managers.
• Define and execute the storage roadmap for GDC across public sector, retail, and telecom markets.
• Lead the storage end-to-end technical strategy for GDC.

Minimum qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, similar field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 15 years of experience in cloud computing (e.g., enterprise applications, infrastructure, storage, platforms and data).
• 10 years of experience building enterprise storage systems.
• Experience with private and public cloud design considerations in the areas of developer and operator productivity, virtualization, containers, high performance computing, data, security and config/policy automation.
• Experience providing technical guidance and working with teams to deliver services for internal and external stakeholders.

Preferred qualifications

• Master's degree or PhD in in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience in designing and implementing large-scale filesystems or distributed storage systems.
• Experience leading product development of 2nd generation cloud products at scale.
• Experience with any of the following IaaS solutions: Kubernetes, system virtualization, on-premise or hybrid cloud computing, cloud identity and security system, cloud monitoring and logging, or local and cloud storage.
• Technical expertise in systems and software with the leadership skills needed to influence technical leaders across the company.

In this role, you will be responsible for execution for GDC Storage and Data Protection. You will directly influence a team of software engineers, work closely with product management and engineering managers to define and execute on the storage for GDC roadmap for public sector, retail, and telecom markets. You'll inspire our teams and rapidly establish trust among a set of stakeholders and partners.

US: $307000 - $427000 (USD) + 30% bonus target + equity + benefits

• Collaborate with peer tech leads in Google Distributed Cloud Edge Delivery (GDCE) to develop a strategic roadmap to remediate all reliability findings.
• Collaborate with a global team of engineers and product managers to execute making appropriate tradeoffs between architecture, time-to-market, and business goals.
• Drive systems and tools, and infrastructure strategic roadmap and development to improve the ability to scale GDC Storage.
• Lead the overall Storage end-to-end technical strategy for GDC.
