Job summary

Google is building the industry's leading private and hybrid cloud with Google Distributed Cloud (GDC) Storage. This role oversees execution for GDC Storage and Data Protection, guiding a team of engineers and collaborating with product and engineering managers to shape the storage roadmap for multiple markets.

You will drive the overall storage strategy and help scale our enterprise storage offerings. US-based employment is typical, with compensation reflecting seniority and performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS or equivalent practical experience.
• 15 years of experience in cloud computing (enterprise apps, infra, storage, platforms).
• 10 years building enterprise storage systems.
• Experience with private/public cloud design, virtualization, containers, HPC, data security and automation.
• Experience guiding teams to deliver services for internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Define and own the storage roadmap for GDC Storage across public sector, retail and telecom markets.
• Collaborate with engineers, product management and managers to execute the storage plan.
• Lead end-to-end storage strategy and drive scalability of GDC Storage.
• Coordinate with global teams to ensure reliability and performance improvements.

Job description

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, similar field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 15 years of experience in cloud computing (e.g., enterprise applications, infrastructure, storage, platforms and data).
• 10 years of experience building enterprise storage systems.
• Experience with private and public cloud design considerations in the areas of developer and operator productivity, virtualization, containers, high performance computing, data, security and config/policy automation.
• Experience providing technical guidance and working with teams to deliver services for internal and external stakeholders.

Preferred qualifications:

• Master's degree or PhD in in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience in designing and implementing large-scale filesystems or distributed storage systems.
• Experience leading product development of 2nd generation cloud products at scale.
• Experience with any of the following IaaS solutions: Kubernetes, system virtualization, on-premise or hybrid cloud computing, cloud identity and security system, cloud monitoring and logging, or local and cloud storage.
• Technical expertise in systems and software with the leadership skills needed to influence technical leaders across the company.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with peer tech leads in Google Distributed Cloud Edge Delivery (GDCE) to develop a strategic roadmap to remediate all reliability findings.
• Collaborate with a global team of engineers and product managers to execute making appropriate tradeoffs between architecture, time-to-market, and business goals.
• Drive systems and tools, and infrastructure strategic roadmap and development to improve the ability to scale GDC Storage.
• Lead the overall Storage end-to-end technical strategy for GDC.
