Job summary

Lonza in Bend, Oregon is seeking a Principal Engineer, Equipment Reliability to support reliable production of life-changing medicines. You will develop reliability strategies, lead cross-functional teams, and drive improvements to maximize uptime and maintain safety and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Experience in reliability, maintenance, engineering, manufacturing, or operations environments.
• Experience leading complex projects and cross-functional teams.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems and reliability practices.
• Experience using maintenance management and asset performance systems.
• Knowledge of cGMP environments, engineering standards, and maintenance best practices.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to influence stakeholders and drive continuous improvement in a regulated manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead root cause investigations and reliability improvement initiatives to prevent recurring failures.

• Optimize asset criticality assessments and spare parts strategies to support business continuity.
• Establish and monitor reliability KPIs and communicate results to senior leadership.
• Support audits, continuous improvement activities, and new equipment projects for long-term reliability.

The actual location of this job is in Bend, Oregon (USA). Relocation assistance is available for eligible candidates and their families, if needed.

As the Principal Engineer, Equipment Reliability, you will play a critical role in supporting the reliable production of life-changing medicines. Working closely with Engineering and Maintenance teams, you will develop and drive reliability strategies that improve equipment performance, increase system uptime, and support safe, compliant manufacturing operations.

This is a fully site-based role. Working together in person supports close, real-time collaboration and the technical precision needed to manufacture medicines to the highest quality and safety standards.
