Description

At Northrop Grumman, our employees have incredible opportunities to work on revolutionary systems that impact people's lives around the world today, and for generations to come. Our pioneering and inventive spirit has enabled us to be at the forefront of many technological advancements in our nation's history — from the first flight across the Atlantic Ocean, to stealth bombers, to landing on the moon. We look for people who have bold new ideas, courage, and a pioneering spirit to join forces to invent the future, and have fun along the way. Our culture thrives on intellectual curiosity, cognitive diversity, and bringing your whole self to work — and we have an insatiable drive to do what others think is impossible. Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.

Our Tactical Space Systems Division Integration and Test group is seeking a Principal Electronics Engineer (Integration and Test) to join our team of qualified and diverse individuals in Gilbert, AZ.

You will have the opportunity to design, develop, and execute test procedures and automated test scripts using spacecraft commands, telemetry, electrical ground support equipment, and Linux-based simulation tools.

The ideal candidate has system-level integration and test experience working with spacecraft flight hardware, extensive scripting expertise, and strong computer and troubleshooting skills.

Daily responsibilities include test preparation and execution, leading to direct contact with satellite and space flight hardware. Candidates must be able to tackle complex issues utilizing skills obtained in electrical engineering and related disciplines, with a strong preference for experience in both hardware and scripting development.

Required skills include the ability to communicate clearly, lead test scripting efforts, and use critical thinking to troubleshoot problems during on-the-floor operations. Familiarity with Maestro, Linux systems, and automation scripting is highly desirable. International travel to support launch campaigns may be required. Shift and weekend work to support testing will be required periodically.

Responsibilities:
  • Apply technical standards, principles, theories, concepts, and techniques frequently
  • Develop test procedures, specifications, test limits, and automation scripts for spacecraft systems
  • Execute testing, monitor tests per specifications, troubleshoot, and document all test activities
  • Demonstrate the ability to perform moderately complex professional tasks across multi-discipline teams
  • Understand Northrop Grumman test engineering practices, standards, and principles
  • Understand electrical circuits and software interaction within flight hardware and EGSE
  • Support EGSE and flight hardware test/troubleshooting efforts independently
  • Follow escalation processes when test errors are encountered, following program-specific protocols
  • Participate in anomaly resolution processes and contribute technical solutions for FRB approval
  • Travel and support alternate shifts when required
  • Provide solutions to a variety of technical problems of increasing scope and complexity
  • Apply technical insight and experience to validate test setups and results
  • Establish and maintain contacts with internal teams and outside customers on routine matters
  • Coordinate with ITEE team leads, electrical technicians, and I&T managers to complete test activities
  • Prepare and present material in program review boards (PDRs, CDRs, TRRs, FRBs, etc.)
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline, preferably electrical or computer engineering (or equivalent) with 5 years of related engineering experience; or a master’s degree with 3 years of related experience
  • Demonstrated ability to design, implement, and refine scripting and automation solutions using languages such as Python, Java, or VHDL
  • Strong experience with Linux systems, simulation tools, and spacecraft command and telemetry environments
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD TS/SCI security clearance and access
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Microsoft Visio, National Instruments LabView, or similar tools
  • Experience developing and executing hardware or software testing and scripting
  • Minimum of five years related experience in spacecraft or satellite system testing
  • Expertise with electrical test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, DMMs, and signal generators
  • Experience in electronics troubleshooting, RF testing, and environmental testing (including Vibration Analysis/Thermal Vacuum testing)
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C, C++, or VHDL
  • Leadership experience coordinating multi-discipline testing activities or leading scripting teams
  • Experience in Aerospace or Defense industry (development or test)

Salary Range: $106,000.00 - $130,000.00
