Job summary

Roblox is seeking a Principal Software Engineer for Creator Services Data in San Mateo, CA. You will lead the next generation of Data Storage systems powering millions of Roblox experiences and oversee cloud services, dashboards, and observability across the platform.

You will mentor engineers, drive complex backend systems, collaborate with design, product, and operations teams, and own critical production systems with uptime and data durability at the forefront.

Qualifications

• 10+ years background in software development with public clouds and distributed systems.
• 3+ years building and maintaining data storage systems (relational KV/blob stores).
• 6+ years programming in C# and/or C++ and experience leading agile teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of cloud services to support Creator Community.
• Build data storage systems including infrastructure, serving layers, clients, and web APIs.
• Expand observability with metrics, data pipelines, analytics, data visualization, and dashboards.
• Onboard new customers to the Roblox Extended Services platform.
• Identify product gaps with Creators and handle customer emergencies.
• Provide on-call support for Data products and production incidents.
• Mentor junior engineers through design reviews, 1:1s, and code reviews.
• Lead cross-functional collaboration with UX, PM, developer relations, and other engineering teams.
• Become a technical leader and contribute to company-wide initiatives.
