Job summary

Roblox is seeking a Principal Data Engineer to define the data ontology for all Roblox and to lead a team of data engineers in building scalable analytics pipelines. You will collaborate with Data Science, Data Platform, Product, and Engineering to capture requirements and translate them into robust data solutions.

You will design and implement batch and streaming pipelines, drive analytics tooling and frameworks, and promote best practices for data operations across a large-scale data

Qualifications

• 8+ years building scalable ETL pipelines with SQL, PySpark or Scala.
• 3+ years leading data engineering with business or data science stakeholders.
• Experience with Cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Experience with ETL orchestration tools or frameworks.
• GitOps workflow experience (branches/PRs/CI/CD).

Responsibilities

• Partner with Data Science, Data Platform, Product, and Engineering to collect requirements to define the data ontology.
• Lead and mentor a growing team of Data Engineers.
• Design, build, and maintain batch and streaming data pipelines.
• Develop scalable analytics frameworks and tooling.
• Establish and evangelize data operations best practices.
